In the world of product design, it’s easy to get caught up in making things look "pretty." However, the true value of a designer lies in their ability to solve complex problems and reduce user friction.
Today, I am introducing UX Redesign Challenge, focusing on an app many of us use daily: Swiggy.
The goal of this challenge is simple: Sharpen your UX thinking—not your UI skills.
Step 1: Identify the Friction
Don't look at the entire app. Instead, identify ONE specific moment where a user feels stuck, confused, or slowed down.
- The Swiggy Example: A common point of friction is the overwhelming moment of choosing between multiple restaurants and various offers. When choices are endless, decision fatigue sets in.
Step 2: Ask the Core UX Question
Before you move a single pixel, you must ask: "What is the user trying to do here?".
- The Answer: In the case of Swiggy, the user is simply trying to decide quickly what to order—without stress.
Step 3: Execute a Focused Redesign
Constraints lead to better design. Redesign ONLY that specific flow, not the whole app or even the homepage. Focus entirely on improving that single "decision moment".
Step 4: Justify Your Decisions
A redesign is only as good as the logic behind it. To complete the challenge, you must be able to explain:
- What changed?
- What did you remove or simplify?
- Why is it easier for users now?
Conclusion: The Result of Good UX
At the end of the day, Good UX = fewer doubts and faster decisions. Take this challenge to prove that you are a strategic thinker who can turn a stressful user moment into a seamless one.
