AI and Figma plugins have fundamentally changed the way designers work.

Need icons?

A plugin generates them.

Need wireframes?

AI creates them.

Need multiple UI variations?

Done in seconds.

That’s incredible.

But it also creates a dangerous assumption.

That generating UI is the same as designing products.

It isn’t.

Automation Solves Execution

Plugins are fantastic at repetitive work.

They eliminate manual effort.

They improve consistency.

They increase speed.

That’s exactly what they should do.

Automation should remove repetitive tasks.

Not replace product thinking.

Great Design Lives Outside Figma

Before opening Figma, experienced designers ask questions.

Who are the users?

What business problem are we solving?

Which technical constraints matter?

What trade-offs are acceptable?

What metrics define success?

None of those answers come from a plugin.

They come from conversations, research, collaboration, and experience.

The Designer’s Job Is Changing

The value of designers is shifting.

Less time will be spent creating pixels.

More time will be spent evaluating options.

Prioritizing ideas.

Facilitating decisions.

Connecting business goals with user needs.

That’s the work AI can’t automate.

Use Every Tool Available

Use AI.

Use plugins.

Use automation.

Just remember why they’re there.

They’re assistants.

Not decision-makers.

The designers who thrive over the next decade won’t necessarily be the fastest.

They’ll be the ones who consistently make the best decisions.

At UX Crumbs, we’re teaching designers how to combine AI tools with product thinking, research, and strategic decision-making.
